The Pantheon of Gods
Gods of Good
Talad
Type: greater god of good
Alignment: NG
Appearance: male
Primary Domains: good
other domains: healing, law,
protection, strength, water
Description: At constant war with his
arch-rival Grathis, Talad is one of the most powerful gods. He has
recruited 3 others under him over the past few thousand years. He is
also close with the neutral gods Ayeuse and Selana.
Church: A well organized religion with
a set hierarchy. There is a schism in the church, with both the
Empire of Gelta and a second, rival church hierarchy in the Allied
Kingdoms. The Champion of Talad is usually somewhat anonymous, and
can change at any time.
Restrictions on clerics: Cannot commit
evil acts.
Gamury
Type: god of justice
Alignment: LG
Appearance: female
Primary Domains: law
other domains: travel, protection,
good, knowledge
Description: The most active and
war-like of the gods of good. Most nations revere her, and most large
cities have temples to her. Her followers often serve the government
in some capacity as judges, lawyers, investigators, legislators, etc.
Church: Highly regimented, the Champion
of Gamury, also called the Supreme Law, is also the head of the
church. A strict hierarchy follows of Cardinal, Archbishop, Bishop,
Prior, Deacon, Father, and Priest.

laws.
Lizen
Type: lesser god of healing
Alignment: CG
Appearance: male
Primary Domains: healing
other domains: good, animal, plant
Description: Concerned with the
wellness of all living things, putting him at odds with Pairic. His
champion is usually chosen during an outbreak of sickness or war.
Church: Age counts for more than
anything. The hierarchy is extremely flat, with a council of elders
making most decisions, and no formal ranks. Members spend most of the
time tending to the sick, and generally stay out of politics. The
monks of Lizen invented their martial arts to protect themselves and
the clerics while travelling. Clerics are often accompanied by a
protective monk or two.
Restrictions on clerics: -1 to all
damage rolls, no edged weapons, fight only in self defence
Special benefits: monks and clerics are
immune to disease (at 2nd level) and poison (at 7th level)
Elyskin

Appearance: female
Primary Domains: protection
other domains: good, knowledge,
strength
Description: Usually in conflict with
Bryskar, but also has many problems with the Nameless.

head of the church, but wields no direct power over its governence.
Her clerics usually serve as negotiators and mediators.

Neutral Gods
Hesten

Alignment: TN
Appearance: female
Primary Domains: plant
other domains: animal, air, earth,
protection
Description: Concerned with protecting
the wild from destructive forces, Hesten is usually at odds with
Grathis, Pairic, Nameless, and Bryskar. Hesten and Disana are very
close (and are rumored to actually be sisters). Hesten is often
allied with Lizen and Elyskin.
Church: There is no hierarchy in the
church. Most members are solitary. In the few instances where they
gather and build a temple, the oldest will usually act as first among
equals. Members are usually not overly concerned with farmers or
people who only take from the land in a sustainable way. Clear
cutting or strip mining will bring their wrath.
Restrictions on clerics: not
comfortable in cities, cannot use metal weapons
Disana
Type: god of oceans
Alignment: CN
Appearance: female
Primary Domains: water
other domains: travel, animal, plant,
chaos

the oceans from destructive forces, Disana is usually at odds with

are rumored to actually be sisters).

Zespar
Type: demi-god of death
Alignment: TN
Appearance: ?
Primary Domains: death
other domains: destruction, magic
Description: The last of the Lopendar, his name was originally Eszerallum. Considered a genius even for one of his race. He is the most remote of the gods, and usually does not take sides in their conflicts. He has recently been known to have worked closely with Balson, however.
Church: The hierarchy is very flat,
with only a few ranks. Members are found everywhere, and are
approached to both bury the dead and to bring them back. Families
often donate large sums of money to the church to try to buy a better
afterlife for their recently departed.
Restrictions on clerics: clerics cannot
spontaneously cast healing spells
Bryskar
Type: lesser god of war
Alignment: LN
Appearance: male
Primary Domains: war
other domains: strength, chaos, luck
Description: Bryskar lives for the
sound of battle. His followers tend to be fighters and soldiers,
praying for victory. Times of peace are satisfactory to him as long
as there is a combat going on somewhere. He does not encourage wars,
although some of his followers do in a mistaken belief they are
helping him. He most frequently is at odds with Elyskin.
Church: Rigidly structured, much like
an army. His priests are frequently in vigorous disagreement with
each other. The church promotes honorable battle between honorable
combatants, but has no problem ambushing those that do not follow its
code.
Restrictions on clerics: clerics cannot
leave companions behind in battle
Ayeuse
Type: lesser god of learning
Alignment: TN
Appearance: male
Primary Domains: knowledge
other domains: magic, travel, law
Description: Ayeuse usually holds
himself above the conflict amongst the gods. His chief aim is to
promote education and learning amongst the populace, and he is
largely the reason that so much of the population is literate.
Church: The temples often double as
schools or even universities in the larger centers. Priests will
usually teach basic reading, writing, and arithmetic for free. Use of
the temple libraries requires substantial donations of books or
knowledge.
Restrictions on clerics: none, although
most of his clerics dislike combat, and have a curiosity about all
things that gets them in trouble.
Derxa
Type: demi-god of games
Alignment: CN
Appearance: female
Primary Domains: trickery
other domains: luck, chaos
Description: Patron god of gamblers and
thieves, Derxa is an enigma in the immortal realm. Liking nothing
better than playing a trick on the others, Gamury is a favorite
target due to her lack of a sense of humor. Derxa often spends most
of her time trying to disrupt the plans of the other gods.
Church: Derxa has no formal church.
There are a few shrines here and there, but that's it.
Restrictions on clerics: must be
chaotic
Selana
Type: god of the sun
Alignment: LN
Appearance: female
Primary Domains: sun
other domains: fire, animal, plant,
magic
Description: A primal force, Selana
does not associate much with the other gods. Worshiped by most of the
agricultural communities, Selana is often seen as aloof.
Church: Each kingdom usually has its
own church structure.
Restrictions on clerics: tend to be
claustrophobic. They begin to lose their powers if out of the sun for
too long.
Balson
Type: demi-god of magic
Alignment: LN
Appearance: male
Primary Domains: magic
other domains: knowledge, law
Description: Only recently ascended, not much is known about his religion yet. While mortal he was one of the greatest wizards ever. Many wizards and mages now pay him homage, and he is known to be on good terms with Ayeuse and Zespar. He is in regular contact with the Mage Guild in Staig.
